About me

I am a Venezuelan student at New York University Abu Dhabi. My majors are Social Research & Public Policy and Theater, with a minor in Peace Studies. I grew up in Venezuela and studied high school at the United World College of India. I was the 2010-2014 Youth Mayor of the Chacao Municipality in Venezuela. I have been inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s “the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in serving others.” Hence, my passion is service, which has been connected to my social work, community building, and volunteering experiences in Venezuela, Canada, India, and the United Arab Emirates. I co-created the Ekta-Kriya UWC-Program for underprivileged children empowerment through sports in Pune, India. I worked as a facilitator at the Pearson Seminar on Youth Leadership in Victoria, Canada. I have received training on Forum Theater of the Oppressed, and done research on the use of Forum Theater to address internalized and interpersonal oppression. I have directed and co-produced several performances in India and the United Arab Emirates. I have interned at the Alternative Law Forum in the city of Bangalore, doing research on the role of civil society holding governments accountable, and at the Warehouse 421 Gallery in Abu Dhabi, doing research on Emirati history. At my university, I serve as a captain of the volleyball team, a student representative on the Sustainability Committee, and an active member of Advocacy, the university’s service group focused on migrant labor. Currently, I work as a production assistant of Efecto Naím, a TV program based in Washington DC of the Latin American TV channel NTN24, and I am also a 2017 Dalai Lama Fellow doing a project to promote the integration of migrant workers and university students in Abu Dhabi.
