About me

Beatriz Cabur is a Spanish theatre maker. She has written and/or directed over 35 plays which have been produced in 6 countries: Spain, Mexico, Italy, Austria, the UK and the USA. Graduated in Playwriting and Theatre Directing from the RESAD, Madrid, Spain. Master of Advanced Studies in AV-Comms from the UCM, Madrid, Spain. Her playwriting career began with the publication of her first short play in 1998. A full length play was also published in 2000. Since then she has written other 21 dramatic works that has been presented in theatres and film festivals all over the world. Her writing is known for being eclectic and in accordance with the subject of the play. From high budget sci-fi to fake documentaries, from non-structured tragedies to site-specific romantic comedies, Skype shows to be performed for one audience member at a time and plays written for specific companies. Beatriz Cabur is a member of the international network for working playwrights, The Fence and of the collective of Theatre Directors The Internationalists. Some of the organizations that commission and support her work are The Cervantes Institute, The Madrid City Hall and the Consulate General of Spain in New York. As a stage director one of her latest jobs has been “Interteatro”, a project developed with the Cervantes Institute to promote Spanish playwriting worldwide. “InterTeatro” experiments with different combinations of recorded video, live streaming and live performances through the shows. Premièred on February 21st, 2013, in Milan, Italy; it was a great success. After “InterTeatro” she has worked on a show interweaving cultures in performance, featuring artists from London, New York, Los Angeles, Madrid, Barcelona and Milan in which different identities were possible side by side. On September 2013 she worked on the staging of the play “Carthage” by Caridad Svich with the Signdance Collective International. Beatriz is the co-founder of New International Theatre Experience (NITEcorp), a global service organization that empowers theatre makers by revolutionizing the way they create, connect and cooperate in the twenty-first century. Founded in 2012 in New York, NITE transforms the theatrical landscape by providing both physical and virtual platforms for investigation, innovation and interaction. She’s currently enrolled in the final year of her PhD in “Telepresence in Theatre” at the University Carlos III in Madrid.
