About me

Oscar Offonoll is his artistic name. He was born in Barcelona (1979). He lives between both Spain and
USA. The work of Oscar is primarily Visual Art specialized in Interactive Installations, Video Art and
Videojockey Performance. He creates and produces his own shows, participating in the entire artistic
process, creation, programing, design and installation. Technically, Oscar is a programmer / visual
engineer, industrial designer, and professor.
Oscar began focusing solely on art when he realized could master the technology and transform it to his
way of seeing things. He studied Electronic Art and Digital Design, and began his artistic career as VJ
Offonoll. On the other hand, he realized that Interactivity is the future of everything and decided to learn
visual programing language. He mastered “Quartz Composer” for his video interactive installations and live performances.
One of the artist that has had the most influence on him during his learning stage was John Maeda:
”The ability to “read” a medium means you can access materials and tools created by others. The ability
to “write” in a medium means you can generate materials and tools for others. You must have both to be
literate.“ This paragraph is significant because one must master the language to feel free to create the art
that you want. The artist should be able to create with his own tools.
Oscar has a passion for video, interactivity, design, research, technology, as well as art applying these
concepts, which communicate with people.
For him, adding the concept of interaction to art is enriching, it brings art to the people. To play,
participate, and to interact, are actions that have been taught to us in order to live and to learn. Therefore,
interactive art show us new experiences.
