Classical WETA Call for Musicians
On Monday, March 24, 2014, The Embassy of Spain in Washington, D.C. will host a concert and reception in honor of WETA’s Friends of Classical Music as a part of WETA’s Leadership Circle Salon Series. WETA’s Friends of Classical Music comprise of a group of major donors who have a passion for classical music and whose donations help to support Classical WETA 90.9 FM. Hosted by His Excellency The Ambassador of Spain Ramón Gil-Casares and WETA’s President and CEO Sharon Percy Rockefeller, approximately 100 of Washington, D.C.’s philanthropists will attend this exclusive event at the Ambassador’s residence.
Classical WETA is looking for a program of classical music that is appropriate for this setting, lasting no longer than 45 minutes. A program with a Spanish theme would be most welcome. WETA is looking for solo piano, solo guitar, or a chamber ensemble no larger than a quartet. The participating artist/s will have the opportunity to be interviewed by Classical WETA and will be recognized on the radio station.
Classical WETA 90.9 FM offers classical music 24/7, entertaining listeners in their homes, offices, cars and online. With long-standing ties to local and national cultural organizations, Classical WETA 90.9 FM is the only all-classical music station in the Washington, D.C. area. In addition to broadcasting classical music recordings, Classical WETA offers a variety of special programs that introduce listeners to local venues and artists, focus on various genres of classical music and provide insight into the artistic process of musicians, conductors and composers. Approximately 500,000 individuals tune in to the radio station each week. Classical WETA also produces VivaLaVoce, an Internet radio station devoted exclusively to classical vocal music.
