Moving Forward, Looking Back is a documentary project focused on identity, based on memory and inspired by travel that combines photography, video and sound. The exhibition explores the Spanish legacy found along the Old Spanish Trail, a route that was envisioned to link the colonial outposts of New Mexico and California.
Award-winning Spanish actor and playwright Juan Diego Botto’s latest work is a revealing look at the hot-button issue of (im)migration. By bringing the lived stories of these individuals to the forefront, An Invisible Piece of this World humanizes the headline-making numbers and statistics.
Theatre creates exceptional and unique moments and feelings, I wanted to reflect some of them with this series of photographs that recreate scenes from different plays represented in Spain. Photos: © Estrella Savirón.
Cislanderus, the name of our project, is formed from the combination of pieces that represent the union of two cultures: Canary+islander+US. We wanted to allude playfully to the United States acronym (U.S.), while making a reference to the plural personal pronoun “us”.
