Job Description:
Working under the supervision of the President, the full-time Program Director oversees and manages all programs and services to artists and arts organizations, and performs other tasks as assigned by the President. The salary for this position ranges from $45K to $50K, plus benefits.  Last day to apply:  August 10, 2012.

Responsibilities:

 

  • -Manage and implement NoMAA programs and services
  • -Create a yearly program plan in coordination with the President, the Development Director and other staff 
  • -Manage re-grant program proposals and application process, panel review, award distribution, evaluations, and follow up reports from grantees
  • -Coordinate and implement technical assistance services and workshops, artists forums, panels, literary and other performing events,  and Artists Salons
  • -Work with President and Development Director to coordinate Uptown Arts Stroll marketing campaign and NoMAA Arts Stroll events 
  • -Manage the Uptown Arts Stroll calendar
  • -Coordinate the gallery program from submission to installation process, and organize corresponding events such as artists talks
  • -Oversee the production of the NoMAA bi-weekly newsletter
  • -Oversee and provide website content
  • -Supervise NoMAA programs’ volunteers
  • -Assist in the coordination of  membership recruitment efforts, and facilitate ongoing contact through internet, print, and other means of communication, and in the creation of online members’ directory
  • -Assist in the coordination of special events/activities and with marketing and fundraising campaigns
  • -Provide written periodic reports and regular updates on programs and activities
  • -Serve as an advocate for the Northern Manhattan arts community
  • -Other related tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

 

  • -BA or BS in the arts or equivalent experience
  • -5-7 years in non-profit program/project development specifically within the fields of arts and culture, preferably in New York City
  • -Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • -Excellent computer skills and knowledge of computer systems 
  • -Must be organized and able to work independently and on a team on multiple projects
  • -Must be available to work some nights and weekends
  • -Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to and work productively with diverse individuals of various ages
  • -Familiarity and/or residence in Upper Manhattan and bilingual (English/Spanish) are a plus.
