About me

Mar Gómez González (Madrid, 1977) is a Spanish dramatist and narrator. She is author of the novel Cambio de sentido (2010), the Fuga mundi play (2008), the children’s book Acebedario (2006), and of several texts and short stories published in different media.
In 2008 she obtained the first story award of the competition Arte Joven Latina and in 2007 the Beckett de Teatro award. She was a dramatist who lived in the Residencia de Estudiantes (Students housing) (Madrid, 2005-06) and in 2009, in the International Housing of the Royal Court Theatre in London.
She has participated in different festivals like Teatro Vivo (NYC, 2008), Teatro Stage Fest (NYC, 2010), or in the Eléctrica exhibit (NYC, 2011).
Her work has been partially translated into English, and her novel Cambio de sentido has been totally translated thanks to the 2011 Translation Fund Grant awarded by PEN American Center.
Mar Gómez Glez finished her PhD studies in New York University, where she also teaches Spanish and literature since 2005. At the moment she is preparing her next book and play in English to perform in New York, in no conventional spaces with the actors Pep Muñoz and Kelly Haran.
