New look and feel for IDB Youth
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) invites you to submit design concepts for a new logo for the IDB Youth program ( www.iadb.org/bidjuventud ) that represents the essence of young people as social innovators and agents of change in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). About the IDB Youth Program
IDB Youth was created in 1995 to promote the active involvement of young people, valuing them as “agents of change.”This program provides youth channels for direct dialogue with governments, the private sector and nongovernmental organizations, so that youth can express their opinions, take a stand on issues and help reduce poverty and inequalities. The program support initiatives that focus on youth leadership and participation, community service and volunteerism, technology and innovation, entrepreneurship, and sports and culture for development.
Vision: A region that values and seeks the involvement of youth, seeing them as essential agents of social and economic development.
Mission: To promote the active engagement of youth in the development process.
Core Goals:
- Equip and prepare young people for their own development and that of their communities
- Work to make young people an integral part of the development process of countries
- Incorporate youth development and participation into IDB operations
- Collaborate with other organizations to foster youth development and engagement
Eligibility
The IDB Youth Program logocontest is open to all graphic designers between the ages of 18-30 born in one of the IDB member countries.
Logos
IDB Youth is looking for an original creative, striking logo that speaks to youth and positive development in LAC. Each submission must be accompanied by a brief description (no more than 50 words), of the designer including nationality, age and inspiration for the logo created. The logo design should work across platforms: print, web, social media, etc. and be submitted in color and gray scale (it should be a new original design that has never been used).
How to enter
Please submit your entries electronically to logoBIDJuventud@iadb.org. You may submit up to three (3) versions of the logo. The logos should be created in Adobe Illustrator or similar software and saved as an EPS file. However, for preselection, please send your logos in PDF format, 591 pixels wide with a resolution of 300 DPI. In the event that you are chosen as a finalist, we will ask you to submit the original high resolution vector files, in both grayscale and full color. In the body of the email please provide: your name, age, nationality, profession and/or studies, and an email and telephone number.
Selection process
Submissions will be judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact, and artistic merit. Decisions made by the judges are final. All logos must be submitted to the IDB by July 31, 2012.
Prize
The winner will receive a US$1,000 prize. The winner will be expected to provide IDB Youth 100% exclusivity to publish the logo on its webpage, facebook and in all other IDB materials.
