Nacional Records is gearing up for the CD release of ‘Café Con Música’, a new compilation available exclusively at Starbucks stores in the United States and Canada from June 19th to July 16th, while supplies last.
 

‘Café Con Música’ is a summer listening-friendly snapshot of the current Latin Alternative scene featuring an international array of artists exploring a range of genres, from rock to electronica and beyond. Produced by Nacional Records, a trusted source of exciting new sounds from across the Americas, the Starbucks compilation offers an introduction to elite talent from a thriving musical movement.  
 

With a mix of English and Spanish lyrics, the album represents a varied cross-section of Latin music, featuring indie rock from Spain, electronic cumbia from Colombia, Argentine-inspired ballads from New York and tropicalia from Germany.
 

The hand-picked compilation features several GRAMMY® nominated artists such as Colombian rock icons Aterciopelados, Venezuelan funksters Los Amigos Invisibles, Mexican electronic DJs Nortec Collective Presents: Bostich + Fussible, and Chilean MCAna Tijoux. Also featured are such crossover-friendly buzz artists as Diego Garcia, Polock and Mexican Institute of Sound.
 

This collaboration with Starbucks reflects both the “mainstreaming” of Latino culture in the United States and demonstrates the wide range of music within the Latino community.  With the ever-changing demographics of America, Latinos are often no longer the minority in many parts of the country, and many Latinos come from bi-cultural backgrounds where fusion is the norm.
