The depth and dimension of sculpture by artists working in glass has expanded greatly in recent years. A sculptural entity in its own right, contemporary glass work is marked by creative, conceptual and formal explorations in keeping with the dynamic spirit of the overall field of contemporary art.
“Root (Muladhara)” will be part of KISSED BY A.MUSE group exhibition at St.Georg during the Berlin Art Week. There are two connected themes in this new body of paintings: women in lavish settings and highly stylized Eastern rugs. These paintings evolve from striking pictorial motifs. Initially they seem photo-realistic but closer inspection reveals they are lush and highly painterly. Certain passages venture into abstraction, in a manner similar to Chuck Close’s portraits.
